5 DECADES OF CLASSICAL GUITAR - PERFORMING TEACHING COMPOSING AND ARRANGING
Gary trained with Classical and Flamenco maestros Patricio Galindo Sanchez and Juan Fenollosa in Valencia, Spain before returning to Hamilton in the 1970s to compose, perform and teach as a concert musician, develop private and in-school music programs and promote interdisciplinary artistic collaborations ; creating arts venues for many years ; creating international ensembles everywhere; achieving many cultural awards along the way (Best Classical Musician 1981, Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award 2008); Artistic Director (The Pearl Company, more than 600 events were performed at this renown venue).
From Spanish flamenco to jazz, blues and classical concertos, Gary's music elicits many of his fusion-style capabilities and his great talent on the guitar. He is an accomplished - and prolific - composer and arranger. His live performances mainly showcase his own works , sometimes solo, sometimes collaborating with opera vocalists, jazz performers, children's choirs, symphony strings . . . there is no limit to the imaginative projects Gary has done or is currently creating . He is truly a life-long enthusiast when it comes to any art form.
Gary has recently settled in Owen Sound, on the beautiful UNESCO Bruce Peninsula where he is continuing his passions – composing, arranging and performing music and theatre - embracing life through the arts !
Practising his beloved classical guitar everyday keeps him focused on the important things in life - being grateful , to learn and share with all communities and to be authentic .
